The Star Wars Wikipedia emphasizes that everyone belongs.
Fifty-Fifty-five weeks ago, the Star Wars Wookieepedia page prominently featured a message celebrating the inclusive nature of the Star Wars universe: “Star Wars is for everyone. You have a place in this galaxy; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You all belong here.” This statement embraced diversity and community within the fandom, inviting fans from all backgrounds to share their love for the saga.
However, following the release of “The Acolyte,” there has been a noticeable shift among some segments of the fan base. A growing number of voices have emerged, openly rejecting the participation of others, particularly those who support the new series.
In a troubling turn of events, Wookieepedia became the target of harassment, receiving death threats surrounding Ki-Adi-Mundi’s birthday—a character whose actual birthday has never been officially established within the canon of the Star Wars universe. Fans often refer to a specific date drawn from the Legends continuity, which Disney now considers non-canon. Such extreme reactions highlight a broader tension within the fandom, where some individuals feel compelled to defend their interpretations of Star Wars against perceived challenges to the lore and values they cherish.
Moreover, toxic Star Wars fans exist, as they harbor a deep disdain for something they claim to love, including their animosity towards Disney’s version of Star Wars. They refuse to acknowledge their misunderstanding of Ki-Adi-Mundi's birthday, and instead of addressing the toxicity, they only exacerbate the situation. Even if they were right, this is no way to act as a Star Wars fan. Death threats and exacerbating the situation are not what a Star Wars fan should do, especially over a birthdate. Here are some X posts people posted who are just exacerbating the situation: one user on X made a post, and another also posted on X. As you can see, there are clearly some issues within the Star Wars community regarding these matters.
